Cheers to all of the girls who still hasn't given up on the classic matte red lip but struggle with the perfect formula to not walk around with dry unflattering, crusty lips! I  love a classic red lip, blue based red lip to be exact for my complexion.  

Recently I noticed that NARS launched a new liquid lipstick, their powermatte lip pigments and of course being the lipstick junkie that I am I just had to give it a try.  Also, for some time now I researched that her velvet matte lip pencils were the truth sooooo I grabbed that too just as a backup in case the powermatte lip was an epic fail. 

Nars Powermatte Lip Pigment in Starwoman:$26

Description: Fluid Pigment Complex, which is a liquified pigment with a zero-gravity feel. It has a lightweight texture that's smudge resistant.  

Important Things to Know: 

- Being that the formula is thin, it's not the best idea to hold these babies upside down without the top on while applying. The formula is somewhat "liquidity" and it will drip out and spill all over you or anything around you. Good luck getting that out your clothes! 

- Unlike most matte liquid lipsticks, this formula does not crumble off if you reapply more product.  It also gradually fades away in color throughout the day instead of drying up and cracking on the lips.

Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil: $27 

Description: Long lasting, non- drying formula that is a lipstick combined with the convenience of a pencil with a velvety matte finish.  

Important Things to Know: 

 - Wear by itself or use as a liner/base for your liquid lipsticks. 

Pros:

Combining both lippies together really did give a long lasting non-drying color. I had a pretty eventful day while wearing them and I thought they stood no chance with my peach cobbler cake and latte, but little babies held on my lips for dear life!

Cons:  

Now y'all know I'm a bit frugal so the prices of the lipsticks almost snatched my wig off, but in the name of Nars I know they usually come through on their lip products.

Overall I was impressed with how long these lip colors lasted on me. The color was perfect on me and it was comfortable wearing them. Are you willing to try this combination? What's your favorite red lip combo?
