During the holidays I had the pleasure of being sent some lippies from Mented Cosmetics and since we moved to a new state, things were in boxes for a while. Now after I finally feel like we are settled in, I had to give these lippies a little try.

What’s Mented Cosmetics?

An online based black owned company by two dope African American women (KJ Miller & Amanda E. Johnson) who created cosmetics, nude lipsticks in particular for women of color because there were very few options in the beauty industry to accommodate us.

It is very rare that larger brands create a diverse selection of lipsticks of neutral tones that don’t make us look like we just ate some powder doughnuts with a ashy ring around our lips. Shout out to KJ and Amanda because they did it with Mented Cosmetics. They created a bomb selection of lipsticks that compliment brown girl skin tones along with liners, glosses, eyeshadows and more.

The lipsticks are two types of formula’s, a matte and semi-matte which both are surprisingly hydrating and creamy formulas that stay hydrating long term. So far I can say my favorite is the Pretty In Pink lippie. I love a pink nude because it compliments the natural hue of my lips.

I can honestly say that as a lipstick lover, these totally have my stamp of approval. I love any type of matte texture lipsticks that don’t crumble on my lips through out the day even after reapplying because it was so dry. A very rich and creamy texture that has longevity, great pigment opacity so that you don’t have to apply multiple times to get the color you desire. In the end that helps you not have to use tons of product at a time, pretty much showing it’s worth your money for sure.
