5 Ways to Maintain Your Peace & Stay Unbothered

This entire year of 2020 has been nonstop trying to rob us of our peace and keeping our feathers ruffled. I’m pretty sure most of our wigs and edges have been snatched between quarantine, home schooling, and pretty much being cancelled to travel to just about every single country blocking us from living our best lives.

Just in case your panties are still in a bunch, I wanted to come up with a few things to balance out those chakras and to get you back grounded.

1. Stop Having Expectations

I learned this lesson years ago. I used to have high expectations for things and people thinking that people would treat me in ways that I treated them. The things I would do for people would leave me having the expectation that people would do the exact same things for me. Little did I know that each time that people wouldn’t fulfill these expectations that it would continuously rob me of my peace, and who has time for that? Literally no one.
Setting expectations for things and people sets you up for disappointment. The less you expect people to do things in the way you desire allows you to maintain your peace. Just because you would like the world and people to do things in the way you imagine them doesn’t mean that you are always going to get what you want. This isn’t Burger King and you cannot always have things your way.

Keep your peace, stop with the expectations and just live and be the best you.

2. Accept People for Who They Are and Not Who You Want Them to Be.

This is a tough one. Some of the closest people we love dearly can have particular characteristics that we just wish they would work on and change. It’s hard because in your head it could be so simple if they bettered themselves in some ways that would give YOU more peace, but once again that falls into expectations we have of people.

Some people in our lives are just simply going to be who they are. If they aren’t harming you or causing harm on you, you deal with it because I’m pretty sure that if their behavior was so toxic that would would cut them off. But you haven’t because clearly a part of you still wants to have this person or people in your life.

I’ve learned in life that I have so much more peace when I just accept people for who they are and no longer stress over the ways I wish the ways that I know that they can improve.

3. You Can’t Make Everyone Happy, So Don’t Try To.
I’m going to keep this short and simple, STOP TRYING TO PLEASE PEOPLE. You can’t make everyone happy so why try to? You literally stress yourself trying to make everyone happy and pleasing people. It’s exhausting and you’ll drive yourself crazy so simple just don’t do it. Give people the best you can, and if it’s not enough, fuck em. The end.

4. Worry About Yourself

Involving yourself in other folks business all them time can be exhausting. We give so much of ourselves to jobs, family, friends, relationships and so on. When was the last time you allowed yourself to be selfish and just worried about yourself? Focused on just the things you wanted to focus on? Turned your phone off and just gave yourself some QT??? You deserve to love on yourself and to be selfish and just worry about you.
I don’t care if this requires you shutting off your phone and scratching your ass for 3 hours. If that’s what makes you happy and brings you peace then do it. If you like it, I love it.

5. Surround Yourself Around People Who Are Equally Yolked with You.
This is pretty important to me personally. When you surround yourself around people who aren’t like minded with your same morals and values, it can be pretty exhausting. You’re constantly trying to explain yourself to people when sometimes they just don’t get it. So why be around them to have all of the extra stress??? You deserve better baby.

Align yourself with things and people that have your same morals and values so that you have the right people in your corner holding you down and supporting you on the daily and of course when you need them most. People who reciprocate the same energy into friendships and relationships as you do.

All in all, you’ll be less stressed in life when you focus on yourself and mind your business. Loving yourself on the daily while being surrounded by people who are truly rooting for you. Stick to the boundaries you create for people, and cut off the ones who just can’t see to get it.

Stop stressing over things and people who you can’t control and love the shit out of yourself, because no one on this earth will love you like you do.

I hope you all enjoyed this post and as always, stay blessed and stay beautiful. ❤️✌🏾😘
